Curriculum for EC Education at USD

1.  I liked the way the textbook introduction focused on some of the misunderstandings of DAP. As an early childhood professional, I find myself having to “explain” why we teach the way we teach in early childhood – I think this text will be a great resource for practitioners to have as a tool to give them the language they need to explain what they do.

2. I felt this should be a nice review for the students who have completed the Intro to Early Childhood class – I am hopeful you can all still recite the 3 things you need to know about DAP . . . . (smile)

3.  I am excited to get further into this text – it is nice to be able to go into depth more regarding curriculum – I am hopeful that students will be involved in classroom discussions and bring their interests and knowledge into the course.

We have had many questions on setting up the blog for class. The edublogs site was experiencing some difficulty, but should be working fine now.  I have invited you to my site http://eled413stewart.edublogs.org so that you can see an example of how I set up my page.  Each of you will need a blog site set up for this class – if you would like to use it for other blogging, you can create a page for this class.  In order for Dr. Jacobs and myself to read your weekly class assignments – you will also need to share your website with us. After you successfully create a user account – let us know what your address is to your blog page (should be http://YOURBLOGADDRESS.edublogs.org. We’ll then log into your pages weekly to read your assignments and provide comments.  As you manage your site – there is also a privacy option so that others without access cannot read your posts.
